Cinderella ball gown 2015

My second sewing project! This is the ballgown I made inspired by the new live action Cinderella movie. It is supported by a hoop skirt that I made out of garden hose and duct tape. The top layer of the skirt is decorated with a little over 100 Swarovski and Austrian crystals that I hand sewed on. The skirt has 7 layers and 5 different hues. I added a violet layer to give it a slight lilac tint like in the movie.  The dress has 3 different fabrics, satin, tulle, and lots of organza! The diameter of the skirt is about 6 feet. I could have bought a ready made petticoat and hoop skirt, but they were way too wimpy for my grandiose plans. So I had to make my own.  (I don’t do anything halfway) I did end up buying a ready made petticoat, but I dissected it and re-purposed it. One entire regular petticoat was only enough to go around one of my hoops. That’s how big my hoop skirt is compared to a normal hoop skirt. Obviously I couldn't exactly go out and buy it, so I made my own. I did make a few changes, like making it royal blue instead of light blue, and omitting the butterflies on the shoulders. I look better in dark blue and I wasn't sure how I felt about the butterflies so I just left them out. I can't wait for the movie to come out this Friday! I'll be first in line. More pictures to come
